Hall of Fame Plaque Biography

Keith Pina, the athlete and 1989 Graduate of ORR, has got to be placed with a select highly recognized group of elite inductees who were all chosen to be captain of their respected squads in their senior year of each of the three major sports they each participated in. In Keith’s case, in 1988-89, he captained the ORR Co-SCC Champion Football Team, the Boys Basketball Team, as well as the SCC Champion Boys Baseball Team for ORR that year. Baseball Coach, Jack Eddy, remembers Keith as his “over 300 hitting leadoff hitter, whose speed on the bases was a constant threat to the opposing teams they faced.” His strong arm and speed made him an outstanding center fielder for the Bulldogs in his three years of varsity playing.

On the grid iron, Keith was a tailback on offense and maintained a corner position on the defense. His Coach, Craig Sherman, remarked about his extraordinary quickness and his ability to step out arms way on the playing field. It led the Bulldogs to a Co-Championship of the SCC. He was voted a SCC All Star in his senior year, a Boston Globe All Star and a New Bedford Standard Times All Star. He was chosen to represent ORRHS as its Otto Graham Finalist for 1989.

As Coach Eddy concluded in his response about Keith “Keith was an excellent role model for the younger players and always played with a “Fire in his belly” I was fortunate to have the opportunity to coach Keith, and I am delighted that he will be an ORR Hall of Famer.”

THE COMPLETE STORY

Expanded Historical Profile

SOURCES & HISTORICAL NOTES

Documenting the record

October 16, 2026: plaque biography reconciled directly against the existing photograph of the physical 2019 plaque. The inscription matches. Printed errors and induction-era claims remain part of the plaque record; this is not independent verification of every historical claim. No photographs were added or changed.

Verified against original 2019 Hall of Fame manufacturer artwork supplied by ORRAHOF. The approved Class of 1989 yearbook portrait was standardized to the Jefferson presentation standard, with the original historical source preserved.

October 2, 2026: physical plaque photograph IMG_1915.HEIC from the inductee's Drive folder visually matched by name and 2019 induction label and attached as the plaque reference. Original retained in Drive. Format conversion only; no crop, retouch or generated detail. Approved primary portrait and earlier biography wording retained. Word-for-word physical-plaque reconciliation remains pending.

The Hall of Fame archive also preserves the complete 2019 display (IMG_1916.HEIC), pairing the historical photograph and induction plaque. That original display is included in the profile gallery.

October 14, 2026: text-only editorial review against the existing Hall biography and source notes. Existing history covers the available Hall achievements; retained rather than padded. This review does not certify an exact physical-plaque match or current record status.
