Hall of Fame Plaque Biography

At a time when girls high school sports were beginning to blossom at Old Rochester Regional, Janet Dorr was one of the school’s top athletes and an inspiration not only to her teammates, but to the future of ORR women’s athletics. Her athletic ability, passion and motivation made her the ultimate teammate. Playing varsity field hockey, basketball, and track as a freshman enabled her to develop into a truly outstanding athlete. As a sophomore, Janet was a member of the 1969 Narry League Championship Track Team, competing in the high jump, 100 yard hurdles, and relay events. She was named captain of the basketball team her junior and senior years. In her senior year, Janet was named co-captain of the field hockey team and most valuable female athlete, while also bringing the 1971 basketball team to its first tournament bid. During an era where there were few female sports role models, Janet became not only a true trailblazer, but a supportive team player as well.

SOURCES & HISTORICAL NOTES

Documenting the record

October 16, 2026: plaque biography reconciled directly against the existing photograph of the physical 2016 plaque. The inscription matches. Printed errors and induction-era claims remain part of the plaque record; this is not independent verification of every historical claim. No photographs were added or changed.

Plaque biography transcribed from official 2016 manufacturer artwork. The approved Class of 1971 yearbook portrait was standardized to the Jefferson presentation standard, with the original historical source preserved.

The Hall of Fame archive also preserves the complete 2016 display (IMG_1866.HEIC), pairing the historical photograph and induction plaque. That original display is included in the profile gallery.

October 10, 2026: original yearbook material was reviewed and added to the gallery. Captions follow printed labels or describe the team/page without asserting uncertain individual identities. Original files remain in the Hall archive; publication copies use format conversion only.

October 14, 2026: text-only editorial review against the existing Hall biography and source notes. Existing history covers the available Hall achievements; retained rather than padded. This review does not certify an exact physical-plaque match or current record status.
