THE COMPLETE STORY

Expanded Historical Profile

Ally Saccone redefined the hurdle standards at Old Rochester Regional. At graduation, she owned the third-fastest 60-meter hurdles time in Massachusetts history at 8.85 seconds and the ninth-fastest 55-meter hurdles mark at 8.21. She won consecutive All-State championships in the 400-meter hurdles, running 63.54 and 62.50, and finished second statewide in the 100-meter hurdles in each of those seasons.

Saccone also set Division 4 meet records in the 400 hurdles both years and displayed exceptional range across the sprints and jumps. Her performances included 13.01 in the 100 meters, 46.50 in her only 300-meter hurdles race, a school-record-tying 5 feet 3 inches in the high jump, 35 feet 3 inches in the triple jump, and 17 feet 1 inch in the long jump.

Originally regarded as one of the area’s leading softball prospects, Saccone discovered track after joining the winter program for conditioning and chose to pursue her new passion. She also excelled in field hockey, leading ORR in scoring as both a junior and senior. Her dominance in track, combined with her field hockey success, earned her Standard-Times Athlete of the Year honors for 2012–13.

Her coaches emphasized the competitive approach behind those results. Sean Medeiros’s induction tribute praised her willingness to meet challenges without shortcuts. Field hockey coach Polly Lawrence highlighted her speed, tenacity and ability to read the play and make sound decisions in front of goal. Those accounts connect Saccone’s performances with the qualities her teammates and coaches saw in competition.
