Hall of Fame Plaque Biography

Alan Miner left his mark on Old Rochester as a three-season student athlete, graduating in 2005. Al ran track, and played basketball, football, and soccer, but he was best known for his success on the baseball field. As a team captain in 2005, he pitched a perfect game, the first in Old Rochester’s history, which scored him a spot on the New Bedford Standard Times and South Coast Conference All-Star teams. He was also recognized by the Standard Times with the 2005 Leadership Award.

After graduation, Al attended Salem State University, where he studied Criminal Justice and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. Al was a four-year starting pitcher for the Vikings, leading the team to the NCAA Division III baseball tournament in 2008 as the team’s captain. He was named Salem State Male Student Athlete of the Year in 2008.

Alan has been employed by Gary Mills and Sons General Contracting as a carpenter for the past eleven years. He is well respected in the community and by his peers and he participates in various charity events, 5k runs, and golf tournaments.

He currently lives in Fairhaven, close to his very supportive family, which includes his father, Alan Miner, Sr., mother, Kathleen, and sister, Kristen, all of Rochester.

SOURCES & HISTORICAL NOTES

Documenting the record

October 16, 2026: plaque biography reconciled directly against the existing photograph of the physical 2022 plaque. The inscription matches. Printed errors and induction-era claims remain part of the plaque record; this is not independent verification of every historical claim. No photographs were added or changed.

Verified against the original 2022 Hall of Fame manufacturer plaque artwork supplied by ORRAHOF. Graduation year recorded as 2005 exactly as shown on the plaque artwork.

October 2, 2026: physical plaque photograph IMG_1923.JPEG from the inductee's Drive folder visually matched by name and 2022 induction label and attached as the plaque reference. Original retained in Drive. Webflow encoding compression only; no crop, retouch or generated detail. Approved primary portrait and earlier biography wording retained. Word-for-word physical-plaque reconciliation remains pending.

The Hall of Fame archive also preserves the complete 2022 display (IMG_1924.HEIC), pairing the historical photograph and induction plaque. That original display is included in the profile gallery.

October 10, 2026: the original plaque’s Phi Beta Kappa claim remains in the faithful transcription. The honor-society name has not been independently confirmed and is omitted from the expanded history pending confirmation.

October 14, 2026: text-only editorial review against the existing Hall biography and source notes. Dates employment and community activity to the record, retaining the prior honor-society qualification. This review does not certify an exact physical-plaque match or current record status.

Follow-up: The Phi Beta Kappa claim remains unconfirmed and excluded from expanded prose; college tournament/captain/award chronology merits original Salem State records.
